About This Quote

The plain truth can be the hardest thing to see when it's about yourself. If you don't want to know the truth, you'll do anything to disguise it. The words were spoken by Sam Clemens (Mark Twain) in his book "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". The story is about an American who travels back in time and ends up living in Camelot before he even knows that he has traveled back in time.

The main character is thinking that they are living in the 18th century when they meet King Arthur and Merlin. He is so taken with the idea of Merlin, the wizard, that he starts believing everything Merlin says.
